The Pokémon 30th Anniversary Set, officially called Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration, is the biggest card release of 2026. It launched on 16 September 2026 as the first Pokémon TCG expansion ever released on the same day around the world, and every card in it is foil. This guide explains what the set is, what you get in a pack, the cards collectors are chasing, every product in the line-up and how to choose the right one.
We stock the full range in English, Japanese and Chinese in our Pokémon 30th Celebration collection, and we have written two companion guides: the 30th Anniversary card list goes card by card through the rarities, and the 30th Anniversary release date guide lists every launch date in one place.
What is the Pokémon 30th Anniversary Set?

Pokémon turned 30 in 2026. The first games, Pokémon Red and Green, came out in Japan on 27 February 1996, the trading card game followed in Japan that October, and English players got the Base Set in 1999. To mark three decades, The Pokémon Company created 30th Celebration, a special expansion that mixes brand-new cards with famous cards from the game’s history.
Anniversary sets are a tradition. The 20th anniversary brought Generations in 2016, and the 25th brought Celebrations in October 2021, which is still one of the most collected sets ever made. The Pokémon 30th Anniversary Set follows the same idea on a bigger scale: more cards, more products and a new rarity that has never appeared in a pack before.
In Japan the set is called 30th CELEBRATION and carries the code M6a. It belongs to the Mega Evolution era, so the modern cards use the same rules and card frame as sets like recent English Pokémon releases.
When the 30th Anniversary Set launched
30th Celebration went on sale on 16 September 2026 at participating retailers worldwide. That made it the first Pokémon TCG expansion with a simultaneous global launch, so collectors in the UK, Japan and the rest of the world opened the same cards on the same day. The exact time on launch day varied by country.
The English products did not all arrive at once. They come in five waves: seven products on 16 September, the Booster Bundle and Mini Tins on 2 October, the Battle Decks on 30 October, the premium collections on 6 November and the Binder Collection on 4 December 2026. Our 30th Anniversary release date guide breaks down each wave product by product.
What is inside a 30th Celebration booster pack?
Every English 30th Celebration booster pack contains five foil cards, one foil Basic Energy and one Pokémon TCG Live code card. Because the whole set is foil, there are no plain non-holo cards to sort out after you open a pack.
Each pack also contains one of 30 different foil Pikachu cards, each drawn by a different artist. That guaranteed Pikachu is what makes the set so popular with casual fans as well as serious collectors: you get a piece of the anniversary in every single pack.
Japanese packs are different. A Japanese 30th CELEBRATION pack holds six foil cards and sells for 360 yen in Japan. You can open Japanese packs from a sealed Japanese 30th Celebration booster box, and our guide to Japanese Pokémon cards explains how they compare with English ones.
There is no English booster display box for this set. English packs come inside collections such as the Elite Trainer Box, the Booster Bundle and the tins, which is why choosing the right product matters more than usual. If you just want to try a pack, we also sell single English 30th Celebration booster packs.
The headline cards in the Pokémon 30th Anniversary Set
The English main set is numbered to 128, with secret rares numbered above that, and the set has more than 150 cards in total once the special cards are counted. Four groups of cards get most of the attention.
30 Pikachu cards from 30 artists
The Pikachu cards are the heart of the set. Thirty artists each drew their own version, so the Pikachu subset reads like a gallery of three decades of Pokémon art styles. Completing all 30 is a popular goal on its own, and because one turns up in every pack, it is a goal you can make real progress on.
Futuristic rare: Mew ex and Mewtwo ex
Futuristic rare is a brand-new rarity that debuts in 30th Celebration. The artwork is by the Japanese artist YOSHIROTTEN, who also designed the set’s main visual and its Basic Energy cards. Two cards carry the rarity, Mew ex and Mewtwo ex, and their bold digital style looks unlike anything Pokémon has printed before. They are the rarest pulls in the set.
The Classic Collection

Thirty classic cards from the game’s history return in the Classic Collection, each with a foil finish and a golden border. The line-up runs from the original Base Set Charizard and Base Set Pikachu through to modern cards such as Pikachu & Zekrom-GX, so it works as a quick tour of 30 years of Pokémon cards.
Classic Collection cards are not legal in the Standard format, although they can be played in formats that allow their original printings. The Ultra Premium Collection Day and Night each include a dedicated Classic Collection booster pack with three of these cards, alongside 29 regular 30th Celebration packs.
Illustration rares and Special Illustration rares
More than 20 new Illustration rare and Special Illustration rare cards fill out the top of the set. The Special Illustration rares include fan favourites such as Pikachu ex, Mew ex, Mewtwo ex and Greninja ex. Our 30th Anniversary Pokémon card list covers these cards in detail.

The 30th Celebration promo cards
Almost every English product comes with its own promo card, and collecting the promos is a fun side project because each one is tied to a product rather than a pack. These are the promos in the English line-up:
- Nidorina: a full-art promo in the Elite Trainer Box. The Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box adds a second copy with a Pokémon Center stamp.
- Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres: the three legendary birds in the Poster Collection.
- Sylveon ex or Greninja ex: a foil promo and an oversize card in the matching Pokémon ex Box.
- Alolan Exeggutor or Lucario: in the two versions of the Tech Sticker Collection.
- Eevee: in the Knock Out Collection and the 2-Pack Blister.
- Victini and Zeraora: Illustration rare style cards in the Espeon ex and Umbreon ex Battle Decks.
- Ditto, Mew and Mewtwo: in the Ditto Premium Collection and the two Figure Collections.
- Pikachu ex with Espeon ex or Umbreon ex: the headline promos in the Ultra Premium Collection Day and Night.
Promos are not part of the numbered set list, so they are easy to overlook. If you want them, buy the products sealed and keep the promo in a sleeve from the moment you open the box.
Japanese and Chinese 30th Anniversary products

The set also launched in Japanese and Chinese, and these versions are popular with collectors who want sealed boxes of packs, which the English line-up does not offer.
- Japanese booster box: sealed packs of six foil cards. See the Japanese 30th Celebration booster box.
- Japanese Futuristic Box: a premium box built around the new Futuristic rare cards. See the Japanese 30th Celebration Futuristic Box.
- Japanese 30th Celebration Card Sets: nine sets released in Japan on 16 October 2026, one for the starter Pokémon of each generation, from the Kanto starters to the Paldea starters.
- Japanese Premium Deck Set: the Espeon ex and Umbreon ex Premium Deck Set, whose cards are included in the international set.
- Chinese booster box and gift sets: the Chinese 30th Celebration booster box plus gift boxes such as the Prismatic Future Gift Box.
Japanese and Chinese cards are printed to the same high standard as English cards, and many collectors prefer their card stock and centring. Browse our Japanese Pokémon cards and Chinese Pokémon cards to compare.
How the 30th Anniversary Set compares with Celebrations
The obvious comparison is Celebrations, the 25th anniversary set from 2021. Both sets mix new cards with reprints of famous older cards, and both called that reprint subset the Classic Collection. The differences are mostly about size and how you get the cards.
- Size: Celebrations had a 25-card main set plus 25 Classic Collection cards. The Pokémon 30th Anniversary Set has a main set numbered to 128, secret rares above that and a 30-card Classic Collection.
- Packs: Celebrations packs held four cards. A 30th Celebration pack holds five foil cards plus a foil Basic Energy, and every pack has a Pikachu.
- New rarity: Celebrations had no new rarity. 30th Celebration introduces Futuristic rare with Mew ex and Mewtwo ex.
- Classic Collection: in 30th Celebration, the Ultra Premium Collection Day and Night each include a dedicated Classic Collection pack with three cards.
- Launch: Celebrations launched on different dates around the world. 30th Celebration was the first set to launch everywhere on the same day.
If you enjoyed collecting Celebrations, you will recognise the format straight away, but expect a much bigger set to complete.
Which 30th Anniversary Set product should you buy?

The right product depends on what you want from the set. Here is a quick way to decide.
- You want to open as many packs as possible: the Booster Bundle gives you six packs with no extras, so more of your money goes on cards.
- You want a gift or your first anniversary product: the Elite Trainer Box has nine packs, a Nidorina promo and everything you need to sleeve and store your pulls.
- You want the Classic Collection: the Ultra Premium Collection Day and Night are the products with a dedicated Classic Collection pack.
- You want a small treat: the Knock Out Collection and the Mini Tins are low-cost ways to get packs plus a promo or art card.
- You want boxes of packs: go for the Japanese booster box or the Chinese booster box.
Tips for collecting the 30th Anniversary Set
- Pick a goal. A full master set is a big project. Many collectors start with the 30 Pikachu or the Classic Collection instead.
- Protect your hits straight away. All-foil cards show scratches easily, so sleeve your best pulls and put them in a toploader or binder as soon as you open them.
- Keep some products sealed. Anniversary products have a strong record of holding their appeal, and a sealed Elite Trainer Box or Ultra Premium Collection makes a great display piece.
- Check the release waves. The premium collections arrive weeks after launch and the Binder Collection not until December, so watch our pre-orders for the products you want.
Buying the 30th Anniversary Set in the UK
Because 30th Celebration launched on the same day everywhere, UK collectors did not have to wait for the English release or import early copies. Demand has been high across every wave, so a few simple habits help you get the products you want at a fair price.
- Buy from a UK shop. Ordering from a UK retailer means prices in pounds and no surprise import charges when your parcel arrives.
- Check the seal. Sealed Pokémon products have tight, branded shrink wrap. Loose or bubbly wrap is a warning sign, especially on booster bundles and tins.
- Compare packs per pound. The Booster Bundle and Elite Trainer Box usually give the best value per pack. Premium collections cost more because of their promos and accessories.
- Pre-order the later waves. The Ultra Premium Collections, the Ditto Premium Collection and the Figure Collections arrive on 6 November 2026, and the Binder Collection on 4 December. Pre-ordering is the easiest way to secure one.
Every product in our 30th Celebration range is sent from the UK, and each product page lists exactly what is inside the box.
Is the Pokémon 30th Anniversary Set worth it?
For most collectors, yes. Every pack is foil, every pack has a Pikachu, and the mix of new artwork and classic reprints means there is something for players, long-time fans and new collectors alike. The main thing to watch is the product choice: because there is no English booster box, compare what each collection includes before you buy.
If you collected Celebrations in 2021, the Pokémon 30th Anniversary Set is its natural follow-up. If you are new to Pokémon cards, it is one of the friendliest sets to start with, because even an ordinary pack feels special.
